Short Abstract: With SVG Mobile and SVG 1.1 already W3C Recommendations, what is next for SVG? This presentation looks ahead to the new features - such as textflow, advanced compositing - that are starting to emerge for SVG 1.2 and considers in particular the integration of SVG with other XML namespaces including SMIL and XForms.
Short Bio: Chris received a BSc in Biochemistry from the university of Stirling in 1983. In 1990 he got a MSc in Biological Computing from the University of York. Later, Chris worked at the Computer Graphics Unit at the University of Manchester, where as part of the the Gravigs Project, he wrote a set of modular distance learning materials on Computer Graphics or Scientific Visualisation. Following, he moved to another project, MAN T&EC, where he wrote and presented courses on Scientific Visualisation, Internet Skills for Bioinformatics, and Active Web Pages. Currently Chris works at the W3C consortium where he is responsible for the Web-Graphics activities and Stylesheets. Chris contributed to SVG, CSS, PNG and HTML specs.
